The Base Car...
After plenty of research (and way too many late-night forum debates), we landed on the 2014 Mustang GT for our budget 10-second build.
The Coyote Ford Mustang GT (2014+)
Price: Used listings starting at around AED 20,000 - AED 50,000 for one in a better conditions.
The Mustang is inherently a drag car by design, with its long hood, short rear deck, and powerful V8 engine making it a natural contender on the strip.
Why? The 2014 Mustang GT, powered by the legendary 5.0L Coyote, offers a solid foundation for big power with minimal modification.
With a rear-wheel-drive layout and a lightweight chassis compared to modern muscle cars, it’s the perfect platform to chase 10-second quarter-mile times without breaking the bank.
Option 1: Budget Turbo Kit (~$4,000-$6,000)
On3 Performance Single Turbo Kit (~$4,000)
Produces 600-700 WHP on E85 with supporting mods.
Includes all major components, but will require minor tweaks.
Cn3 Performance Single Turbo Kit
Upgraded Fuel System (~$1,500)
Bigger Injectors (1000cc at least)
Boost-a-Pump or Return-Style Fuel System
Return Style Fuel System
E85 Tune (~$800)
Lund, PBD, or any other reputable tuner for a safe high-boost tune.
OR
Option 2: Budget Supercharger (~$5,000-$7,000)
Vortech or Paxton Kit (~$5,500 used, $6,500 new)
Easier install than turbo but less peak power potential.
Would need the same fueling upgrades and E85 tune.
Vortech Supercharger Kit
(Turbo setups make more power at lower boost levels but require more labor to install. Superchargers are simpler but might need more boost to reach 10s.)
2. Traction & Drivetrain
Even with power, you won’t hit 10s without traction.
Drag Radials or Slicks (~$800-$1,500)
Mickey Thompson ET Street R 275/60R15
Weld Racing Drag Wheels (Used ~$1,000)
Upgraded Driveshaft (~$700-$1,200)
Factory 2-piece won't survive launches at 10s power levels.
1-piece aluminum or carbon fiber.
Axle Upgrades (~$800)
Stock axles can snap at launch.
GForce or DSS half-shafts recommended.
Rear Gear Swap (Optional, ~$400)
3.73 or 4.10 gears to help get into powerband faster

With a good launch, this setup should run low 10s, possibly high 9s with more boost.
